Telle Mère telle Fille

Pour moi, un des grands plaisirs du scrapbooking est son côté social. Il permet de passer de moments si agréables entre amies et transforme des étrangères partageant cette passion en amies instantanées. Ma fille Alexandra, est une de mes scrap-amies, avec qui j'ai énormément de plaisir à fouiner, créer et partager. Nous passons des moments vraiment privilégiés ensemble, et notre amour pour ce loisir créatif crée un lien supplémentaire entre nous. Comme on dit si bien, telle Mère telle Fille...

Aujourd'hui je vais partager quelques cartes avec vous, qui sont de jolies créations d'Alexandra. Elle s'est attelée avec beaucoup d'enthousiasme à en créer toute une série qu'elle a ensuite offert à son entourage dans le but de ramasser des fonds pour le rallye cycliste "300 km pour la VIE" au profit de la Fondation Cité de la Santé de Laval.

Je suis si fière d'Alexandra pour son implication et tellement contente de pouvoir partager ces plaisirs avec elle!

Timeless BEAUTY

This is my first time participating in the OLW (One Little Word) blog challenge. I love the idea of being inspired by words. It is a card I made using my all time favourite Graphic 45 papers.

I based it on Get Sketchy's sketch #3 below.

La semaine dernière j'ai bien aimé le sketch de "52 sketches... 52 weeks". Il m'a inspiré à créer une nouvelle page 8X8 pour l'album de Tati. J'aime tellement cette photo de Tati dans les bras de son papa! Elle reflète tant de tendresse, de sérénité et de promesses futures...


Ceci est le croquis qui m'a servi d'inspiration.

Pro...

I picked up this neat paper from Necessities' urban collection. I love the wild grungy feel of it and it matched up perfectly with some cork sheeting I started experiencing with recently. Thus was born the page below featuring my son practicing basketball - in what I teasingly call his wannabe basketball pro look.


This layout is my submission for the Scrapbook Québec august sketch challenge based on the sketch below created by Isabelle Giasson.

For the occasion I found a sports related quote. I think that it is one worth remembering...

Passion pour la vie

Une des grandes passions d'Alex est le vélo. Dès que la température le permet, il saute sur sa bicyclette, que ce soit pour voyager à son travail, découvrir la ville ou faire une excursion en compagnie d'amis. Rouler le passionne, le ressource, le relaxe et le fait sourire à coup sûr!

Cette année il a trouvé une nouvelle façon de mettre à profit son sport préféré, en participant au rallye vélo "300 km pour la VIE". Le rallye organisé au profit de la Fondation Cité de la Santé, aura lieu les 12 et 13 septembre prochain dans le but de recueillir des fonds pour le futur Centre Intégré de Cancérologie de Laval. Ce nouveau Centre permettra aux personnes atteintes de cancer de recevoir des traitements de radiothérapie, service qui n'est présentement pas disponible sur le territoire de Laval. Alex fera donc partie des cyclistes qui ont choisi de relever le défi pour cette cause et je serai moi-même bénévole pendant l'évènement. Je suis très fière d'Alex et pour rendre hommage à sa passion, j'ai réuni ici quelque'unes de mes créations soulignant certains de ses exploits.

Poupée

Voici la page que j'ai soumis pour le défi scraplift de Scrapbook Québec (http://www.scrapbookquebec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3965). Je l'ai créé à partir d'une photo à laquelle je tiens beaucoup, malgré le fait que la qualité de l'image laisse à désirer. Elle représente ma puce quand elle avait à peine 2 ans, dans un ensemble style poupée de chiffon, que ma mère lui avait confectionné avec beaucoup d'amour et de patience. J'ai été obligée de scanner la photo originale et la réimprimer pour essayer d'eclaircir l'image et obtenir un format 4X6. C'est purement par "accident" que j'ai utilisé l'image en triple - fruit de mes essais-erreurs d'imprimerie - et j'ai trouvé l'effet intéressant.

SK8 - tutoriel pour lettres en chipboard

J'ai promis plus tôt cette semaine de vous montrer comment j'ai créé mon titre en chipboard pour ma page SK8, alors voici. C'est très simple. Depuis que j'ai appris cette technique, je l'applique à toutes les sauces...

J'ai commencé par appliquer sur des lettres chipboard une couche de peinture acrylique couleur blanc ivoire.



Une fois séchés, j'ai étampé un motif d'étoile avec une encre couleur merlot.

Voici ce que ça a donné.

Par la suite, j'ai préparé un morceau de carton ondulé dont j'ai enlevé le cartonnage couvrant, pour obtenir une surface gondolée.

J'ai trempé le côté gondolé dans de la peinture acrilyque couleur érable campagnard.

J'ai utiliser le carton tel une étampe, pour créer un effet ligné sur mes lettres.

J'ai laissé secher complèment. C'est important que les lettres soient très sèches avant de procéder à la prochaine étape.

Pour créer un effet viellot, j'ai ensuite poncé la surface des lettre jusqu'à l'obtention de l'effet désiré.

Pour finir, j'ai légèrement encré les bords et "sali" les lettres en utilisant de l'encre noire.

Et voilà, le tour et joué...

So many challenges... so little time...

This week my attention was grabbed by a number of card challenges. I'm glad to have found them, because I have neglected cards lately. I also really enjoyed them, because they pulled me out of the rut and pushed me in new directions.

I created the first card, "Haute Couture", for the Get Sketchy challenge. This is their first challenge and they are promising to post one every Friday. You can check it out here:

To create my card, I used (you can't really tell from the picture) pre-embossed card stock from Michaels, designer paper from Graphic 45's Fashionista collection (have I mentioned that I LOVE Graphic 45?), a decorative metallic brad and a few pearls.


Next in line is the "Celebrate" card. I submitted this one for the august card challenge on Scrapbook Café - http://forumscrapbookcafe.forums-actifs.com/forum.htm
Very simple, once again pre-embossed card stock and ribbon from Michaels, rub-on candles from miniMARKS, metallic flower and chipboard sentiment from the Dollar store, and some glitter to spice it up.

Last, but not least... "The beat goes on", submitted to Scrap Whispers for challenge #41. This was a really fun challenge - the theme was a Shreck in the swamp karaoke video - so it was wide open for inspiration...

Pendant des années, la passion de Sébastien était le skateboard. Il était équipé de la panoplie obligatoire de tout skater: planche design, souliers de marque, T-shirt skater, collier, ceinture de skate... Tout sauf un casque et des protège coudes et genoux - ça, ce n'était pas cool! Il était téméraire et infatigable. Évidemment, mon anxiété augmentait proportionellement à sa détermination à réussir les figures les plus osées! Ah, mon pauvre coeur de mère! Une chance que ses intérêts se sont éventuellement tournés vers d'autres occupations et qu'il s'est sorti indemne de cette phase...!

Dans cette page, que j'ai créé pour le défi #32 de "52 sketches... 52 weeks" (http://52sketches52weeks.ning.com/), j'ai utilisé du liège comme support et des lettres en chipboard peintes à la main. J'ajouterai la technique étape par étape sous peu.

I created this page for last week's Scrapwhisper challenge #40. This photo was taken WAY BACK - barely a week after Sébastien was born. His godmother, Diane, took a whole series of beautiful black and whites that I still cherish. I used a kit from Crate Paper, vellum paper computer printed with the words for "Hush little baby..." and then stamped with one of the Snowburst collection stamps by Stampin'Up. Some ecru lace, Forever in Time flocked chipboard fonts that I painted over in acrylic to get the desired colour, dollar store paper flowers with letter E brads for centres and American Crafts miniMARKS rub-ons.

I signed up several months ago to receive Scrapbook.com newsletters, and I must say that they have never disappointed me so far! It is an amazing source of inspiration, knowledge and products. Just today, I watched a few amazing tutorial videos they included. Here is a link to the one I fell in love with, from Heidi Swapp. I found this technique for masking and stamping really inspiring, and will be posting a page later this week, where I tried to apply it... I started working on it yesterday evening.

And to prove the point, here is a page I created with a 12X12 picture of a breathtaking view of the bay, taken from the heights of Catalina Island. It was a "surprise" stop of our cruise back in September 2007, when a hurricane forced us to change course, and brought us to this small but beautiful island just off the coast of California.

Promenade matinale

Ce matin, le soleil a décidé de se jouer du canal météo... Il s'est pointé en toute sa splendeur, malgré la journée pluvieuse prévue. Alex m'a tiré du lit et m'a proposé une promenade matinale au Parc Nature Pointe-aux-Prairies. Il a découvert ce magnifique coin de verdure au cours de ses déplacements en vélo, en route pour son travail. Nous avons donc arrêté chez Tim Horton, ramasser un bon bagel BLT et un café, que nous avons savouré en pleine nature, puis nous avons silonné le parc pendant une bonne heure, avec pour seul compagnie, les oiseaux et les moustiques...! De quoi recharger ses batteries et passer une super belle journée.

Prochaine visite de ce parc se fera en vélo!

Today's quote and a new page

Who has never gone through tough times, faced the unexpected and questioned whether a brighter day will come along? Well, if you're in a rut, try to remember today's quote from Dolly Parton:

"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."

Alex and I are fortunate to have our fair share of sunshine. And although we did not catch any rainbows, we did enjoy some beautiful views of San Diego during a cruise in September 2007.

When visiting a new place, we really enjoy discovering it either by foot or by bike. This time we found a really inexpensive bike rental place just across from the cruise teminal, and in spite of threatening rain, we set out on a beautiful bike route that took us up to Cabrillo Point. We spent several hours enjoying the views on the way, and up at the Cabrillo monument. Even the weather turned in our favor, and the clouds parted by the time we made it to destination.
